Following our mission "to bring about a positive
change in attitudes about mathematics, to
develop an appreciation of mathematics, to
deepen understanding of mathematical
concepts, and to show kids how math works",
we welcome groups of 10 or more children
to experience the Math Center on a
fieldtrip outing.

The Math Center offers a 2-hour fieldtrip
for children in Kindergarten through the
Eighth Grade. We comfortably accommodate
up to 80 children per visit. The exhibits,
activities, and games meet or exceed the
Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) in Missouri,
and most are differentiated for mathematical
experience. We believe success in
mathematics is not based on ability or being
smart but rather on practice and experience.

Our prototype lab utilizes approximately
3000 square feet, contains more than 80
different exhibits, activities, and games.
Kids spend approximately 25 minutes in each
room during a two-hour visit.

Go Figure Challenge

For 6th to 8th Grade Students

This challenge is designed to
quickly engage kids. Each team of
students is given a Go Figure
Challenge Card of differentiated
activities. The more difficult the
challenge, the more points earned.
Each team decides which activities
to attempt, performs the
challenge, records a score on their
scorecard, has their score
verified, and then moves to
another challenge. The highest
scoring team receives a small
prize, and a possible listing on
“The Wall of Fame”.

Advance reservations are
required to receive the group
rate admission of $3.00 per
child.
The number of Adult Guides
(chaperones) varies with the
age level of the students.
Educators/Coordinators and
Adult Guides (chaperones) are
admitted at no charge.
We are located next to
January Wabash Park in
Ferguson. This may be a
great place for the kids to
have lunch weather
permitting. Please inquire
about back-up plans.
There is ample free parking to
accommodate school buses.
Educators/Coordinators will
receive a PDF document via
email or a brochure in the mail
and a visual tour to prepare
the Adult Guides (chaperones)
and their class for the visit.
Please note: Both
Educators/Coordinators and
Adult Guides (chaperones) are
welcome to preview the Math
Center at no charge prior to
their visit by scheduling a
preview tour in advance of the
visit.
Unless other arrangements are
made, full payment is due
three days prior to the date
of your visit.
During inclement weather, we
will follow the same schedule
as the Ferguson-Florissant
School District.
Please be aware we are four
stair steps short of being
completely handicap accessible.
After your visit, you will be
asked to complete an
evaluation of your visit. This
is your opportunity to help us
better meet your needs.
