About Us

Operation Decoration

To honor and thank our
donors by participating
in the creation of an
exhibit.

The Metamo4ic Math Center, a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit corporation, was founded in January
of 2006 by an educator with a passion for
mathematics.

As our name implies, the Math Center is
undergoing metamorphic changes.  The
metamorphosis began in 2005 when the first
stage of development (egg stage) was
hatched.

The second stage of development (larva stage)
occurred during the 2006-2007 school year
when exhibits were piloted at Walnut Grove
Elementary School in the Ferguson-Florissant
School District.
.

On September 8, 2007, the chrysalis stage
began as the Prototype Lab opened in
Ferguson, Missouri for visitors to discover the
marvels of mathematics. The Prototype Lab was
destroyed on April 22, 2011 in the Good Friday
tornado.  The Prototype Lab contained over 120
exhibits and activities.  Up until April 22, 2011,
14,000 visitors experienced the Math Center.

The final (adult stage) of our development will
be a stand alone facility that is targeted to open
in 2012.  It will be the first of its kind in the St.
Louis Metropolitan Area.

Our exhibits and activities had been and will
continue to be designed to meet the needs of
educators, parents, and of course, pique the
interest and curiosity of children.

The Math Center was designed for children
from preschool through the eighth grade (pre-
algebra).  When possible, exhibits offered
different challenge levels to meet the needs of
those age groups.   The exhibits were hands-on
and interactive.  Our goal remains to create
math tools bigger than life and allow children to
experience math by becoming a part of math.
As a result of a visit, each child had a
metamorphic experience, discovered that math
is everywhere and in everything, and learned
that math is fun!

The Math Center, when reopened, will serve
our community.   We will implement community
assistance programs for parents to help their
children with math as well as offer math
assistance for students.  We hope to become a
place where you will bring your family and
friends and participate in activities the Center
has to offer.

We greatly appreciate
your support.   Kids will
benefit from your donation.  Please donate
online or mail your tax deductible donation to
our mailing address.
