About Us

Operation Decoration
is a fund raising
campaign  to raise
money to open our
permanent location. To
honor and thank our
donors it also provides
the Center with
artistic creations that
will be displayed on a
(x,y) grid system.

The Metamo4ic Math Center, a nonprofit
corporation, was founded in January of 2006 by an
educator with a passion for mathematics.  The
Center, like a butterfly, is developing through
metamorphosis.

In our current stage of development (the chrysalis
stage), we have over 80 exhibits and activities in
our Prototype Lab.  The exhibits and activities have
been and will continue to be designed to meet the
needs of educators, parents, and of course, peek
the interest and curiosity of children.

The facility is designed for children from preschool
through the eighth grade (pre-algebra).  When
possible, exhibits offer different levels to challenge
and/or meet the needs of those age groups.    The
exhibits are hands-on and interactive.  Our goal is
to create math tools bigger than life and allow
children to experience math by becoming a part of
math.  As a result of their experience, we hope
that each child will have a metamorphic experience
and learn that math is fun!

Our first stage of development (egg stage) began in
2005.  The second stage of development (larva
stage) occurred during the 2006-2007 school year
when exhibits were piloted at the Walnut Grove
Elementary School in the Ferguson-Florissant School
District.  The Center has now entered its third
stage of development (chrysalis stage) with
mathematic exhibits and experiences in a prototype
lab setting.  The prototype lab is located in 3000
square feet of space graciously donated by The First
Baptist Church of Ferguson.

The final (adult stage) of our development will be a
stand alone facility that we are targeting to open in
2009-2010.  It will be the first of its kind in the
St. Louis Metropolitan Area.

The Math Center, when fully operational, will offer
educators a tailored experience on a field trip
outing.  In addition to students experiencing the
exhibits, we will offer Challenge Room activities for
an hour of each class's visit.  Each educator will be
able to preselect the level and mathematical concept
for the Challenge Room activities from a menu of
choices.  This allows educators to focus on the needs
of their class. These activities will be included in
the admission fee, and will be aligned with Missouri
State Standards and GLEs.

The Center will also serve our community.   We will
implement community assistance programs for
parents to help their children with math as well as
offer math assistance for students.  We hope to
become a place where you will bring your family and
friends and participate in all the activities the
Center has to offer.  We want to eliminate all math
phobias!  We want everyone to discover math is fun!!

We greatly appreciate
your support.   To volunteer
to support our mission, please call 314-807-3290 or
email
info@metamo4icmathcenter.com.   To donate
funds, you may donate online or mail your tax
deductible donation to our facility.  We have two
fundraising campaigns, The Mighty Oak Tree and
Operation Decoration.  Regardless of which one you
choose or if you choose both, your donation will be
used for our mission, "to create metamorphic
changes by motivating and educating children to
develop an appreciation of mathematics, gain deeper
understandings of mathematical concepts and to know
how math works."
